Human Rights Film Network Welcomes New Members

The Human Rights Film Network is excited to welcome three new members to the network. During the annual network meeting held in November 2019 in Amsterdam, human rights film festivals from Germany, the Philippines, and Norway were officially accepted. With the inclusion of these new members, the network aims to further promote the screening of human rights films worldwide. The new members are:

  1. Active Vista International Human Rights Film Festival, Philippines
This festival addresses the critical need for human rights education and advocates for social change in the Philippines. It seeks to raise awareness on human rights issues and inspire action through powerful films.
  2. Bergen International Film Festival, Norway
The largest film festival in Norway, Bergen’s Checkpoints programme is entirely dedicated to human rights films. A selection of these films competes for a special prize awarded to the individuals or issues depicted in the film.
  3. MOVE IT! Film Festival for Human Rights and Development, Germany
Based in Dresden, MOVE IT! is a smaller festival with a mission to showcase a diverse array of human rights films. The festival focuses on a specific theme each year and serves as a platform for dialogue, exchange, and human connection.

These new members vary in scale but share the common goal of screening impactful films, raising awareness about human rights, and making a difference in their communities. The current members of the Human Rights Film Network are excited to collaborate with these new additions, bringing the total number of active members to 43.
