We are pleased to announce that as of 2017, the Red Carpet Human Rights Film Festival in Gaza, Palestine, has joined the Human Rights Film Network. Since its inception in 2015, the festival has showcased a diverse range of films, including short and long feature films, documentaries, and animation, all focusing on local and global humanitarian issues.
The festival is held in Gaza City’s Shijaiyah district, an area that was heavily bombarded during the 2014 conflict between Israeli forces and Hamas militants. Despite the devastation, the organizers have continued their tradition by rolling out a 60-meter-long red carpet, symbolizing resilience and hope amidst the challenges.
We welcome the organizers to the network and look forward to the success of their 3rd edition in May 2017.
